CIVIL WAR US NAVY 1861 DAHLGREN 17" BOWIE BAYONET AMES 1862 JAPAN REPRODUCTION

Description

Reproduction model 1861 Dahlgren Bowie knife bayonet stamped "Japan" in the mortise. Stamped on the center obverse ricasso "U.S.N. D.R. 1862" while the reverse ricasso bears the maker's three line mark of "AMES MFG & CO / CHICOPEE / MASS". Butt of the brass pommel is stamped with the government armory sub-inspector's initials "DR".  This is a reproduction of the highest quality, as good or likely better than the original.  The blade is 12" with it being 17" overall length.  The height and thickness of the blade is 1 5/8 x 3/8 inches.  Weighs 2 pounds 4 ounces.
